Food and Wall hanging

The weekend has just flew by with more eating than sewing.
On Friday evening we went to a restaurant grand re-opening, it was for a causal dinning restaurant, and a fun evening, it was nice to be able to wonder around and check everything out including the kitchen.

Yesterday was DH birthday, so last night we when out for a nice dinner at Rouge, I had the smoked Salmon with herb salad for starter, follow by the candied duck, and bread pudding, while the birthday boy enjoyed a tomato and micro green salad, then lamb and finish off with a lemon curd and shortbread for desert. The food was fantastic, and it was a very enjoyable evening. Today's food (made by me), has been a bit of a let down *VBG*
I did manage to make my stitchery into a wall hanging. The wall hanging won out (over a pillow) as I need something to put up on the walls in my sewing room to give it that homey feel. Hopefully I have more quilty stuff to share soon.

Tea Cozy

Well that went together easier than I though, didn’t help that I miss placed the instruction. DH was making tea as I finished this, so it’s already in use. I just kept the back simple. Who gets to see the back anyway, and if you want a change you can just turn it around.
When I was getting this ready to quilt, I decided to get some place mats ready as well. I think they are going to be place mats; Sheba seems to think that I am making cat beds.

Reverse Appliqué

I haven’t worked on much quilty wise this last week, felt like I was fighting of a cold. I did get some work done on this reverse Appliqué tea cozy. DH had asked me to make him a quilted tea cozy, and as DH does not show much interest in my quilting, when he does I do my best to encourage it. I am hoping to get this finished this week as it’s his birthday next Saturday. I do have another gift, but thought it still be nice to give this to him too.

This and That

After making the small wool Christmas ornaments I decided on trying some more hand stitching, and I finished this one last night, I think it turned out nice. Now all I need to decide if I am going to make it into a small pillow or wall hanging. I think I am leaning toward the wall hanging. It was nice to have a small project that I could easily take with me. I can see more of these in my future.

I also received this fun mail. I won this cute winter fabric on Quilt Nut Creations Blog. She also included a table runner pattern and how adorable is the card.

Mesh Bag

This is another quick project that one of the girls at guild showed us. I am not known for subtle colour choice at guild, but this was definitely the most subtle of the ones started at the meeting. I think this is such a fun project, thinking that I may need to make a couple for my SILs. These would be great to use at the beach, or if like me you live in Calgary, the lake.

Back from the Quilter

I picked up the two quilts that I drop off at the quilter a couple of weeks ago, I think I could get use to having the quilts quilted by someone else. I don't think I will send them all out, I like the idea of completely making the quilt myself, but there are some quilts that I know I will never finish if I wanted for me to do them. I think it will be a couple of days (at least) before I think about doing the binding on these.

I have been also sewing the squares for the floral quilt, now I have loads of pinwheels to make or I could start cutting the other fabric, but I think I feel like working on something else. I’m not sure what.

I am always impressed when someone does one project all the way to completion with jumping over to work on something else, I just can't focus on one thing for that long.

Bargello Finished

WooHoo, it’s finished. DH isn't feeling well so we watched a movie, and I worked on the hand sewing of the binding. Once the movie was finished I was so close to being finished that I just needed to get it done. I decided to call this "The Learning Curve" suggested by the Gypsy Quilter. Thanks for the other suggestion too, I had a hard time deciding on the name.

As soon as I finished it was on the bed. Of course Max had to check it out. I think he approves.

Cutting Flowers

I am still working on hand sewing on the binding for my bargello, as it is slow going, the bark blue binding onto the blue back is hard on my eyes so only doing a little at a time.

I have also been cutting my floral, I still have a few to go, but will need to track down some more fabrics as I am trying to keep it very scrappy. One of the girls at guild is going to give me some more. I started to piece some of these together. I find these so soft and pretty. I think this is what I am going to work on today.
