No Sewing

It be over a week since I have be at my sewing machine, but will get lots of sewing this weekend as I am going on my guide retreat. It start Friday morning, but I won't be able to head out until after work. Let hope I can sneak out early. Tonight I decided to get some cutting done so I can just sew when I get there. I am planning on working on floral quilt, so started cutting the background fabric for the pinwheels. Not sure if Taz is helping, or trying to stop me from going away for the weekend.

More Batik Exchange

Yesterday I show you what I made for the batik exchange, here of are the photo of what some of the other girls made. There was also a couple of quilts revealed at Christmas time, but I can't seem to find the photo of them.

One girl didn't want to cut up the square so she made this great reversible quilt. (sorry about the photo it seems to be out of focus, I not sure why)

I think these circles give this next quilt an Asian feel.
A couple of star quilts are in progress.

I think the most creative are these butterfly blocks. I can't wait to see all of these quilts completed.

Batik Exchange

Late last year a few of us from guiled exchange batik squares. The idea was for every one to make something and then reveal what we had done. A few of the girls thought that the split nine patch bag I had made a while ago was for the exchange,

but it was only made using some of the left over squares and fabric from my stash.

but the project I did for the exchange was even simpler, I did a table runner and place mats.

Can you tell that I like batiks with black? I will post what some of the other girls made tomorrow, I think they were more creative that I was.

Little Bag

I attempted to work on my little bag during the week, I was 3/4 of the way though quilting it when I ran out of thread. That was the end of sewing that day. I already had other plans for most of the weekend so didn't get a change to finish it until tonight.

This is just 10x8x3 inch, so just big enough for taking a small hand project to guild meeting. As you see I when with the green handles, but didn't have a long enough piece for the tip binding so instead of piecing I use the multi colour bit I had already cut. I am happy with how this turned out.

New Day

What a difference a day can make, the little flower it the photo which was taken Saturday is in the flower bed under the snow covered tree from Thursday. Your never sure what you are going to get for weather in Calgary.

Saturday was my guild's sew day, I normally go for the whole day, but new that with how I had been feeling that that would be too much, so decided tat I would go after lunch, with one thing and another it was supper time before I got there, I am still glad that I went. Had a nice visit and started cutting out my small bag.

Today I went to the pet expo, it was fun. I came home with so many sample that I won't need to buy cat food for a month. I also got a free cardboard scratching box thing, I was looking at this thinking what a piece of junk, but what do I knew the cats all love it.

This evening I sat down at the sewing machine for the first time in a couple of weeks and sew the top of the little bag. I think this will be very pretty. I had cut out the the multi colour fabric for handles, but now I am think the green would be nice. Please let me know which one you think would look better.

Thanks

Snow day

I have been home sick this week and have not accomplished anything, unless you count napping on the couch. I had been thinking I would attempt to go into work for a few hours today. Of course that was before I looked outside. The thought of shoveling snow to get to the garage was enough to make me want a nap.

I love the way the snow looks, we had 25cm in a few hours. I really like how this wet snow piles up on any surface.
I think Sheba has the right idea, just looking at it from inside.

X-Stitch

This week has gone by quickly without much time for quilting. I did get some work done on the X-stitch that I am working on. As I said before, the last time I did X-stitch would have been when I was a teenager. I am quite slow at this, but am making progress. I finished the first section of the sampler and thought I would share. I really like the heart and think this is looking pretty.
